Employers think Auto Enrolment is complicated and they would be right! Worryingly a growing number of employers are still "offering" staff a workplace pension and if the staff decline the employer simply never puts them into the workplace pension. Wrong. as confirmed by TPR Automatic Enrolment rules state that all eleigible job holders must first be put into the pension AND a deduction must be made via payroll and if the staff member wants to Opt Out they can. Employers must realise that to Opt out you must first be put in. And yes this does sound like the Hokey Kokey of the workplace pension world!
